The Republic of Sierra Leone has fuelled me with many great inspirations and this has made my work unique. She has been the backbone of my thinking and discipline making me a very hard working individual. This has resulted in many international awards, the capacity to complete my education at the highest level possible and a fulfilling career as a Designer.
From my early memories relaxing on a hammock with my grandfather watching the awesome Rokel River, messing around in the bushes on my way to school and experiencing wild nature of the rural areas during long vacations, I truly feel very fortunate.
The above has not however been always valued and it was at my brink of failure whilst studying in Newcastle Upon-Tyne that I allowed a mentor to convince me “The answers lie within. Unless you look into yourself, you will never reach your potential.” The results have been amazing; therefore I would like to get Sierra Leoneans to appreciate and gain confidence in the fact that Sierra Leonean thinking is valid and needed.
Mysalone.com has been created as a tribute to celebrate her 50 yrs of independence and my vision that Sierra Leone can one day become a capital of Design and Innovation. I believe that only Sierra Leoneans can get Sierra Leone to achieve her full potential.
From this dream, I have created the concept “For Them By Them” which is a self growth thinking.
Mysalone.com will showcase some of my Sierra Leone inspired award winning projects and also NEW creative projects dedicated to growth in Sierra Leone. Updates will be on the 27th of each month up until Independence Day (27th April) but check the site regularly for surprise releases.
